EXPERIENCE
We became responsible of the preventive & corrective maintenace of the 1,300 Km of the fiber installed over the "Cuarta Línea del Comahue" -- an extra high power line --.
Being in charge of the maintenance of OPGW over Transener's "Cuarta Línea", we have over 14,000 traces (plus the measurements taken during the execution and start-up). This significant amount of information made us develop a myriad of techniques to sort them for future searchs.
The works on this kind of installations led us to the realization of different kinds of
projects, because the ITU-T L.25 recommendation, establishes just the optical parameters
regarding maintenance, therefore we decided to go along the Japanese Experience and develop accurate and more demanding parameters than those mentioned in the recommendation our own.
Facing an international market need regarding OPGW maintenance, we generated a series of requisites, which are still in approval stage under the supervision of NK Cables.
Currently, OPTIM srl is the only company allowed to do the different kinds of work, in coordination with CAMMESA (Compañía Administradora del
Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico Sociedad Anónima), and the generating groups.
This works are significantly different form currently known ones, because they require specialized staff to work in lines of about 500 KV, and optical measurement equipment outside standards, taking in account that these are links of more than 230 Km long.
OPTIM srl has every required tool to access each part of this line, because the zones are unreachable to most people, as there are several rivers, cliffs and lands of about 180 Km without even a single track.
IN communications level, OPTIM srl has every required equipment for this areas, portable machines for dead zones fiber links, and voice & data satellite links needed in case of broken cable emergencies.
TRACES ANALYSIS
We've developed new tools for the analysis of traces, report generation y cable measurements graphics.
We have as main tool for this, Acterna's Wintrace software that allows us, not only the visualization of traces, but also the access to every sampling point provided by the OTDR.
